Author Spotlight – Constance Bretes

1) What is your writing schedule like?
Right now, I work four days a week, ten hours a day, and I'm an hour's drive to work and an hour's drive home, so by the time I get home, it's been twelve hours, and I'm too tired to write. So I write Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, providing there is no family function going on or life happening. Around the holidays, I usually take an extra day off to write as well. I hope to change this soon, when I can retire from my day job and concentrate more on my writing.

2) Is there a certain time of the day that you tend to be more creative?
I'm more creative during the day when there is no one around me and I can concentrate better.

3) Where is your favorite place to write?
I like to sit out at the picnic table in the shade on a beautiful sunny day to write.

4) What type of environment do you prefer when you write? (ie complete silence, background music, etc)
I need complete silence, but when it gets to the intimate part of my book, I usually have a song that fits the scene and will listen to it while I write it.

5) What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I can actually write the books

6) What is the most difficult or challenging thing for you as a writer?
Right now it's finding the time to actually do the writing.

7) Is there a genre you enjoy reading, but would not write?
Thriller suspense

8) What are you reading at the moment?
The Hero Spell by Josie Malone

9) What do you do to relax?
Digging through gravel searching for sapphires

10) Chocolate or vanilla, coffee or tea, Coke or Pepsi, dogs or cats, sunrises or sunsets?
I love vanilla. I'll drink two cups of coffee each morning, and don't like tea. I like Coke, and I have eight indoor cats and seven outdoor cats, and I love a sunrise.

11) If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Bionic ears

Delayed Justice
Can two former lovers set aside their differences and work together to bring a criminal to justice?

Five years ago, Sami Parker's life was changed forever when she was injured in a bombing incident which left another young woman dead—a woman who happened to be the fiancée of Sheriff Makeeta Robertson, Sami's former lover. Initially, Sami was a suspect in the crime, but the sheriff was forced to release her due to a lack of evidence. The town, convinced that she got away with murder, turned against her.

At last an arrest has been made and the sheriff needs Sami's help to get a conviction, but can she trust him? Although wary and cautious, she wants to see this man brought to justice and wants to clear her own name once and for all. But the awakening feelings she has for Makeeta bring yet another problem. Then there's the secret she's kept for the last five years—one she may not be able to keep any longer, and one that may change the outcome of the trial.
